Hij loopt van je onderste rugwervels naar de binnenkant van je dijbeen, aan de voorkant van je wervels en achter je organen. De psoas is samen met de iliacus\u00a0verantwoordelijk voor de beweging van je heupen en bovenbenen. Deze spiercombinatie heet de iliopsoas. Heb je een zittend beroep of ben je vaak lang onderweg met de auto, dan bevindt je psoas zich dus veel in die verkorte positie. Hij is daardoor moeilijker op te rekken, waardoor je stijf en bewegingsbeperkt raakt. Een verkorte psoas kan ervoor zorgen dat je een slechte houding hebt tijdens het staan en lopen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lage rugpijn<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een verkorte psoas trekt je wervelkolom naar voren, waardoor je bekken naar voren kantelt en je\u00a0een holle rug krijgt. Een verkorte psoas aan \u00e9\u00e9n kant kan bovendien ook nog een kromming in de wervelkolom veroorzaken. De verkorte psoas veroorzaakt lage rugpijn en uiteindelijk ook heup- en knieklachten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overigens zorgt een te slappe psoas voor het tegenovergestelde: je bekken kantelt naar achter en veroorzaakt een te rechte of soms zelfs bolle onderrug. Dit gaat&nbsp;gepaard met verkorte hamstrings.&nbsp;Ook dit geeft uiteraard rugklachten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De beste manier om te zorgen dat je psoas soepel blijft is bewegen.
